Summer Associate Program

TCS's Summer Associate Program is designed to show what it is like to work at TCS and to live in Charleston, WV. The Summer Associate program also allows TCS to assess your skills, talents, and overall fit within the firm.

Summer Associates will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects in a variety of matters during their time at TCS, many of which involve legal research and drafting internal memoranda and court pleadings.

In addition to projects in the office, TCS strives to provide its Summer Associates with as many practical experiences as possible. Summer Associates will have the opportunity to attend and observe depositions, trials, and other court proceedings, as well as meetings with clients, opposing counsel, co- counsel, and witnesses as they arise throughout the summer.

Summer Associates are each assigned an attorney mentor, who will be a resource to the Summer Associate for questions about projects, TCS, and general advice.

In prior summers, TCS has arranged for tours and meetings at the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, the Intermediate Court of Appeals, and the Robert C. Byrd United States Courthouse so Summer Associates can learn more about the West Virginia state and federal judiciary.

TCS also encourages its Summer Associates to attend and participate in various networking opportunities and events for young lawyers in the community.

Finally, TCS arranges several social gatherings throughout the summer, both inside and outside of the office, to allow the Summer Associates an opportunity to get to know our attorneys and Charleston better.

First and second year law students are encouraged to apply for Summer Associate positions. TCS conducts On Campus Interviews at West Virginia University College of Law each fall and spring. TCS also conducts resume collections with interested students attending law schools outside of West Virginia.

If TCS does not directly recruit from your law school and you are interested in applying for a Summer Associate position, you may confidentially submit your resume to bboggess@tcspllc.com.
